1月13日上午，2023年襄阳城墙“城门挂春联 襄阳开门红”活动在小北门广场举行。气势如虹的巨幅春联亮相三座城门，给襄阳古城增添喜庆祥和的节日气氛，让市民、游客感受浓浓的中国年味儿。

On the morning of January 13th, the event called 2023 “Xiangyang City Wall Hanging Couplets on City Gates, A Welcoming sign for the New Year” was unveiled on the Xiaobeimen Square. Majestic couplets appear on three city gates, adding a tinge of happiness and auspicious and festive feel on Xiangyang ancient city. City-dwellers as well as visitors have a taste of authenticity of Chinese Lunar New Year.

本次活动由襄阳市文化和旅游局主办，襄阳市文物管理处、襄阳古城管理委员会、襄阳市楹联学会、襄阳市书画家联谊会等联合承办。

The event was held by Xiangyang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism with the coordination of Xiangyang Cultural Relics Management Office, Xiangyang Ancient City Management Committee, Xiangyang Couplets Association, Xiangyang Calligraphers and Painters Association, etc.

现场3副气势如虹的巨幅春联分别亮相临汉门、拱宸门、震华门。

On the ground zero, three imposingly huge couplets are respectively shown on Linhan Gate, Gongchen Gate and Zhenhua Gate.

临汉门所挂春联为：乘二十大惠风，汉江奋起中流楫；爱三千年古邑，兔颖描来盛世春。

The couplets hanging on Linhan Gate read: Riding on the 20th People’s Congress Momentum, Bracing up in the middle of Han River, Deep Affection on Three Millennium Old Ancient Town, Rabbit Fur Brush out Another Ample Spring.

拱宸门所挂春联：九天焕景，蟾兔迓神舟，群星皆拱北；三楚争春，襄阳追远梦，百业共图南。

The couplets hanging on Gongchen Gate read: Under the Sky Dome is the Wonderful World, Frog and Rabbit Welcome the Divine Ship to the Moon, All Stars Gather in Northern Sky, Three Chu Areas Try to Grab their Share of Spring, Xiangyang Follows a Far Vision, All Industries Prospers with Ambitions.

震华门所挂春联：长门彰大义，忆赤兔嘶风、青龙偃月；华夏显神威，正虎收戾气、民灭疫魔。

The couplets hanging on Zhenhua Gate read: A Long Gate Eulogizes the Righteous Way, Recollect the Red Hare’s Neighing and Halberd of Azure Dragon and Crescent Moon; China Manifests Its Divine Power, Year of Tiger Becomes Docile, People Conquer the Demonic Virus.

春节贴春联是中华民族延续千年的传统民俗，是民族的文化符号，也是人民在春节表达美好愿望的重要方式。襄阳城墙“城门挂春联”活动将襄阳城墙这一历史文化遗产，与传承千年的楹联、书法、春节民俗等非物质文化遗产有机融合。

Hanging couplets is a traditional custom of the Chinese people for thousands of years. It is a cultural signature of the Chinese race and an important way to express good wishes among people in the Spring Festival. The event of Xiangyang City Wall Hanging Couplets on City Gate combines the historical and cultural heritage of Xiangyang City Wall and intangible cultural heritage such as couplets, calligraphy, and Spring Festival folk customs that have been passed down for thousands of years.

据介绍，我市“城门挂春联”春联征集活动受到全国各地楹联爱好者的广泛关注，短短15天就收到全国各地2800余副优秀楹联作品，既有颂赞襄阳古城历史文化和山川风光，也有讴歌党的二十大和襄阳改革发展巨大成就，还有寄送对襄阳人民的美好祝福。

According to the introduction, our city’s Hanging Couplets on City Gate Couplet Collection Campaign has gained the widespread attention from all couplet enthusiasts across the country. In as short as 15 days, more than 2,800 couplets from all of China have been received, among which there are ones complimenting Xiangyang ancient city’s history, culture and natural beauties, and ones eulogizing the 20th People’s Congress and splendid achievements brought by reform and openness. There are also ones sending kind blessings to Xiangyang people.

此外，我市书法家将现场砚墨挥毫，向市民、游客赠送春联、“福”字。民间文化爱好者赠送门画、剪纸作品，将新年祝福送给大家。

In addition, our city’s calligraphers will use their talents at site and give out couplets and "Fu" to citizens and tourists. Folk culture enthusiasts send out gifts of door paintings and paper-cut works to send New Year blessings to everyone.

据悉，襄阳城墙“城门挂春联”活动已连续举办4年，已成为我市开年盛典的传统特色项目，受到广大市民喜爱。

It’s reported that the event of Xiangyang City Wall Hanging Couplets has been held for four consecutive years and has already turned into a traditional specialty of our city’s new year celebration series and won a lot of love from the citizens.

襄阳城墙历经2000余年依然屹立，留给我们更多的是文化传承和历史记忆，每逢新春佳节来襄阳城墙下打卡赏联，已成了襄阳市民和海内外游客“过年”新风尚。

After two thousand years, Xiangyang City Wall still stand firmly. What remains is more about a cultural continuity and historical memory. Paying a visit to the Xiangyang city wall every time the spring festival approaches has already become a new trend among Xiangyang locals and domestic and overseas visitors who want to have a quality time during this special moment.
